This discussion will explore some fundamental differences between advising individual clients and advising Committees. Group dynamics present special challenges for an investment adviser working in the institutional space. Fiduciaries who serve on Investment Committees are always in a delicate situation when it comes to making investment decisions. We will discuss how, as advisers and co-fiduciaries, we can gain competitive advantage through our ability to listen, watch, and facilitate the decision-making process and add fulfilling, long-lasting, and lucrative institutional relationships to our business.
